Jake Glaspie

Jake "Jakey" Glaspie crossed over to the rainbow bridge on Monday, March 18, 2019 at the age of 13. He was born on May 27, 2005 in Dayton, Ohio. He met his forever owner and mommy on September 4, 2005 at the Dayton Mall pet store. Jake was a very loving, caring, protective, funny and smart dog. He had a personality like no other. He enjoyed his cheeseburger Happy Meals from McDonalds. I recall one time we went through the drive through, the clerk offered him a milk bone treat and Jake turned his head in disgust. He wanted his Happy Meal instead. Every year, he had Cracker Barrel to celebrate his birthday. He may have been born in Ohio but he was truly a southern boy at heart. He loved car rides, taking long walks and dragging mommy so he could mark that special tree. He absolutely loved clean and warm fleece blankets, his big dog bed that would fit a German Shepherd, snuggling with his mommy and snoring in her ear. He enjoyed eating Fritos BBQ chips as if it was his last meal, barking at anything that moved, even his own shadow, and sunbathing. He absolutely disliked baths and would run and hide when he would see the "evil" shampoo bottle come out of the cabinet. He was a very caring and loving dog who would always lick his mommy's tears and comfort her. Jake was a special dog. He could sense when I was upset, sick or sad. He and I had this special bond where we understood one another so well. We continued this special bond up until the moment we had to say goodbye to one another. We locked eyes, as we had never done before. I told him he was going to go to heaven that day and that mommy would be okay. He winked at me twice. Even after losing some of his hearing, I felt he heard and understood every word I was saying to him. Before it was his time to go, he looked up at me to make sure it was okay to go. I told him to go on and that mommy would be okay and miss him very much. With that, he took his last breath and crossed over to the rainbow bridge. Jake is survived by his loving mommy, Samantha Glaspie, his loving grandma and grandpa, Pat and Rick Glaspie, his dad, Brian Clark, his brother and best friend, Max, his favorite caretaker, John Irwin, his Ohio grandma, Cathy Snyder, his new loving family, The Pasden Family (Josh, Albany, Blake, Judy, Rich and Ryan), his special friend, Rachel Conwell and many more friends and family. I would like to thank his wonderful doctor, Dr. Michael Hendrix and all of the staff at Faithful Friends Veterinary Clinic for all of their love, support and exceptional service in doing all they could to save Jake. In addition, I would like to thank Dr. Traci Patonite, at Ohio State Veterinary Hospital Dublin, for being so caring, sympathetic and explaining everything so clearly, as to what was happening with Jake. Lastly, I would like to thank Dr. Rayhel and Dr. Violette for going above and beyond to try and figure out what was wrong with Jake and exploring every option that would save him and help him. Jake would have turned 14 on May 27. So in remembrance of his birthday, spend time with the ones you love, laugh and smile, never take a day for granted and above all, order up some Cracker Barrel. Rest in Peace my little boy and know that mommy loves you more than you know and misses you every day! I cannot wait to see you again one day! Until we meet again, be happy, run and play my loving boy!!!
