Katy Lutz

On Saturday November 10, 2012 at the Franklin County Animal Shelter, our family’s lives changed forever. That was the day that we met Katy, a gentle and friendly little beagle, and it was pure love at first sight. She came home with us that day, and it wasn’t very long until she became a vital part of our family. And she felt it too. You could tell by the way she never wanted to be alone, even if we were in a different room, she would go anywhere to follow us. Katy wasn’t a playful or rowdy dog, but a loving and quiet little girl who loved nothing better than to lay at our feet and be petted. She would roll on her side, put her paws up and push your hand towards her tummy for a well-loved belly rub, and insist that you continue by constantly pushing your hand again when you stopped. Being snuggled and petted by her family was her favorite thing in the world. But it wasn’t only her family that she loved, Katy never met anyone that she didn’t want to make friends with. And of course, being a beagle, another one of her loves was food. She got so excited whenever anyone was eating, because she knew her family couldn’t resist giving her something. Her favorites were, of course, any kind of meat, especially chicken wings, where she licked every bit of sauce off of our fingers, after we tore all of the meat off of the bone so she could eat them safely. And when we went out to eat, even though she was unhappy that we left her for a little while, she was so excited when we got home, because, even though she was happy to see us, she knew to look for a box from the restaurant that would have a little something for her in it. She knew if it were dinner time when we were gone, a box would be there on the table for her and she ran right to it and barked for her treat. God never made a better, more gentle baby than our Katy Beagle, and we can’t believe He ever will. The love just shown from her pretty, expression filled eyes and her always wagging tail. Our sweet little girl crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday April 11, 2020. May God take good care of her until we can reunite with her again. Until then, Katy will be always loved, missed, and remembered.
