Mercedes Fisher Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On Saturday, May 21st., our sweet, dear old friend Mercedes took her last breath with us by her side. We enjoyed her final few hours together. Reminisced old memories while she gobbled up some chicken and gravy baby food we hand fed her. She drank water from our hands as she often did while hiking and snuck some from Jess's water bottle. We gave her lots of loves and told her how much we loved her. Her final moments were loving and peaceful as she drifted away. If you weren't lucky enough to have met her, I don't have to tell you that she was an exceptional beauty. She was the biggest sweetheart. A kind and gentle soul. She loved chasing squirrels and geese. Wading in shallow water. Laying on pillows and sitting on chairs like her people. Girl knew how to relax. She meant more to me than anyone could ever know. For Jess and I, she was the tie that bound us. We had many adventures and tender moments together. In the end, her body wore out, but her mind was alert with clarity. She needed a lot of care in her final years but I'll really miss caring for her. A piece of my heart left with her that day. She was my best friend. Mercedes, I'll miss resting my face against your soft head while catching hints of your vanilla oatmeal shampoo that seemed to linger there indefinitely. Kissing those big white front paws of yours. And the anticipation of you under foot. We will miss you dearly. Knowing that the pain of losing you may not fade, I'll take comfort in the great memories of you wherever I go. For nearly 15 years you were my shadow. You'll live on forever in our hearts. Farewell old friend — I know you'll wait for me — see you down the trail…
