When your pet is at your veterinarian's office
When you've made the difficult decision to euthanize your pet at a veterinarian's office or an emergency pet center, your options are not limited to any one service - you can choose your aftercare provider. If your pet is at home with you
When your pet has died at your home:
- During our open hours, call for an appointment at 614-224-0010 and bring your pet directly to our Pets department located at our Midtown location at 229 E State Street, Columbus. We are open 7 days a week with convenient hours for drop off.
- After our business hours, Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Service has a funeral director on call 24 hours a day. After business hours, please call 614-224-6105 to discuss your needs. Once we are open, we will contact you to arrange for your arrival with your pet. In the meantime, please keep your loved one in a cool location on an absorbent pad.
- If your pet weighs under 20 pounds, it is possible to make arrangements to leave your pet in the care of one of our Schoedinger funeral home locations around Central Ohio. If this is your preference, please contact us so we may assist with the transfer of your pet from the funeral home to our Pet Services department.
- If it is more comfortable for you, we offer pick up from your home to transfer your pet into our care. There is a $300 fee for this service in addition to the cremation service fee.
When your pet is ready to come home, you may pick her up from any of Schoedinger's funeral home locations in Central Ohio.
The Care We Provide, The Promises We Keep
- Once your pet is in our care, they are carefully labeled and placed in their own temperature-controlled space. Our transportation staff and crematory specialists handle your pet with the utmost care, dignity, and respect; we understand that your pet is part of your family and treat them with the same care we would our own family members.
- Every single pet is handled one at a time. Every single pet is cremated privately, by themselves, one at a time. We stand by our service, the care we give, the respect and dignity we provide, and the quality of our work.
- Each step of the way, your pet's information and cremation number are checked and attached to everything associated with them. There are checks, double checks, and triple checks to ensure accuracy.
- When your pet's cremation is complete, you will be contacted to pick up your loved one. If at any time you have questions about anything at all, you are welcome to call us.
